Trump blames French student protests on Islam, migration

Published : Thursday, 8 October, 2026 at 12:00 AM
PARIS, Oct 7: US President Donald Trump said the student protests in France were evidence of “out of control” migration and Islam trying to “take over” the country at a time when the protesters’ demands do not concern religion or immigration and are focused instead on understaffing and lack of funding.

Even Marine Le Pen’s far-right National Rally party, usually eager to blame all woes on France’s migration policies, has not tried to make such a link.

“What’s happening in France is nothing less than out of control mass migration,” Trump said in a post on his Truth Social network.

“This isn’t about schools, this is about Islam wanting to take over a once great Country!” Trump did not elaborate on his claims or provide any evidence. In France, no link has yet been established accros the political spectrum between the student movement and any religious or identity-based demands.
