An 8.5-foot golden nude statue depicting US President Donald Trump, titled "Orange Plague," has been placed on display inside a European Parliament building in France.
The statue, also dubbed the "King of Injustice," depicts Trump riding on the shoulders of a smaller individual. In one hand, Trump holds a golf club, while the other holds a scale of justice, alongside a globe-like golf ball.
Inscribed on the pedestal of the sculpture is the quote: "I am sitting on a man’s back, choking him and making him carry me, and yet assure myself and others that I am very sorry for him and wish to ease his lot by any means possible, except getting off his back."
The artwork is stationed in a high-traffic connecting corridor between two European Parliament buildings in Strasbourg, France, where it will remain through Thursday.
Danish artist Jens Galschiøat created the 23-karat gold-leaf-plated statue, stating that it was inspired by the classic fairytale The Emperor's New Clothes. "Donald Trump is one of the biggest threats to the constitutional world order, democratic values, and our joint efforts to solve the climate crisis," Galschiøat said. "We must speak up and stand together against his destructive impact."
European Parliament Member and Danish politician Per Clausen remarked that while the statue can be tolerated within parliament halls, Trump has no place on the global stage.
The White House has not issued a statement regarding the display. The sculpture was first exhibited last year at the COP30 UN Climate Conference in Brazil and was subsequently shown during the Munich Security Conference in Germany earlier this year.
