A Dhaka court is scheduled to hold a charge framing hearing today against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak, and 32 others in a murder case involving truck driver Md Hossain.
The hearing will take place on Thursday (October 8) in the court of Special Judge-4 of Dhaka, Rabiul Alam. Earlier on September 24, the court deferred the hearing after the prosecution sought additional time due to the failure to produce Palak, who was attending proceedings at the International Crimes Tribunal.
According to the case records, truck driver Md Hossain sustained bullet injuries in the Chand Uddan area of Mohammadpur on July 19, 2024, while returning home during the anti-discrimination student movement. He later succumbed to his injuries.
Following the incident, the victim's mother, Reena Begum, filed a murder case with Mohammadpur Police Station on August 31, 2024. Investigating Officer Sub-Inspector Akramuzzaman filed the charge sheet in court on November 23, 2025, naming Sheikh Hasina and 33 others as accused.
Other prominent figures named in the charge sheet include former Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud, former Minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak, and banned Bangladesh Chhatra League leaders Saddam Hossain and Sheikh Wali Asif Inan.
Four accused, including former State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak and former MP Sadeq Khan, are currently in prison. Ten other accused are out on bail, while the remaining suspects are absconding.
