The 16th meeting of the Bangladesh-India Joint Working Group on Trade begins in New Delhi on Thursday and will conclude on Friday, as Dhaka seeks to address a range of trade-related issues with its key regional trading partner.
Bangladesh is expected to raise issues including trade barriers, anti-dumping duties on jute products and challenges related to land ports, along with other matters concerning bilateral trade.
A 10-member Bangladesh delegation, led by Commerce Ministry Additional Secretary Ayesha Akter, left Dhaka for New Delhi on Tuesday (October 6) to attend the two-day meeting.
According to data from the National Board of Revenue (NBR), Bangladesh exported goods worth $1.75 billion to India in the 2025-26 fiscal year, while India exported goods worth $10.96 billion to Bangladesh during the same period.
India is Bangladesh’s second-largest source of imports after China. Bangladeshi businesses rely heavily on India for industrial raw materials, fabrics, yarn and cotton.
