Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu escorted Rajshahi Medical University (RMU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Jawadul Huq back to his official desk on Thursday (October 8) night, days after the administrator was forcefully coerced into signing a resignation document.

The Minister visited the temporary campus of the university around 9:00 PM, re-seating the Vice-Chancellor in his office and strongly condemning the harassment incident.

"Those who committed this unfortunate act are miscreants with no political identity; they are enemies of society," the Minister stated, confirming that directives were issued to law enforcement agencies to file cases and bring all perpetrators to justice. "No disorder will be tolerated in Rajshahi," he added.

The intervention follows an incident on Tuesday afternoon when an unruly mob of 20 to 25 individuals barged into Dr Huq's office, forcing him to sign an unread paper—believed to be a resignation letter—under threat of physical violence.

During the assault, the VC's personal assistant and section officer (finance), Najmul Hossain, was also physically assaulted when trying to intervene. The intruders subsequently looted computer CPUs, CCTV recording devices, and locked several administrative departments before forcing the VC off the premises.

A case was registered with Rajpara Police Station by Najmul Hossain on Tuesday night against 50 to 60 unidentified individuals for obstructing government duty, theft, and vandalism. Police have arrested three suspects after analysing video footage and photographs.

On Thursday morning, activists from local political organizations escorted Dr Huq from his Upashahar residence back to campus, where executive magistrate Arif Hossain unsealed the administrative offices at 11:15 AM.

Speaking after taking his seat, Dr Huq confirmed he had alerted the Land Ministry, the Health Ministry, and local administration officials immediately after the breach. Land Minister Minu assured that major development projects for the university are progressing smoothly, with one key initiative recently receiving Cabinet approval.

Rajshahi-3 MP Advocate Shafiqul Huq Milan, Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Foyzul Kabir, and other local dignitaries were present during the reinstatement.
