Meeting held over handover of Kalurghat labour welfare facility

A meeting was held at the Ministry of Labour and Employment on Monday to discuss the handover of a labour welfare facility, including a working women's hostel and hospital facilities, built in Kalurghat of Chattogram.

The meeting, held at 11AM at the ministry's initiative, discussed the handover of the facility implemented through Sena Kalyan Sangstha under the Department of Labour.

Chattogram-8 MP and Chattogram Metropolitan BNP Convener Ershad Ullah attended the meeting as a special guest.

Earlier, on September 10, Ershad Ullah raised the issue in parliament under Rule 71 through a public-importance notice, calling for the proper utilisation of the facility and the launch of its operations for the welfare of working people.

The facility is expected to play an important role in ensuring safe accommodation and access to healthcare for working women, particularly those facing housing shortages and limited access to medical services.

Stakeholders expect that the facility, once formally handed over and made operational under proper management, will contribute to the welfare of working people in Chattogram.
