Aviation and Aerospace University, Bangladesh (AAUB), through its Department of Aviation Operation Management (AVOM), organised a day-long training programme on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) to strengthen curriculum development, assessment practices and academic quality assurance.

Titled “Training on Outcome-Based Education (OBE): Curriculum, Assessment and Continuous Quality Improvement,” the programme was held at Falcon Hall in Tejgaon, Dhaka, on Saturday (October 10), bringing together faculty members and academic officials from the university’s Dhaka and Lalmonirhat campuses.

The initiative aimed to strengthen outcome-based teaching and learning in line with national and international higher education standards.

Air Vice Marshal M Mustafizur Rahman, BSP, GUP, nswc, afwc, psc, M.Phil, vice-chancellor of AAUB, attended the programme as the chief guest and session chair.

Air Commodore Md Rabiul Hasan, afwc, psc, dean of the Faculty of Aerospace Management and Entrepreneurship, delivered the opening speech, while Assistant Professor Dr Hosnay Nasrin, chairman of the Department of Aviation Operation Management, welcomed the participants.

The training featured four specialised sessions covering the Bangladesh National Qualifications Framework (BNQF), the principles of OBE, curriculum design and alignment, learning outcome mapping and attainment, rubrics-based assessment, and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI).

The sessions were conducted by academic experts, including Professor Dr Syed Shahrier Rahman of the Department of Linguistics and former additional director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at the University of Dhaka; Professor Dr Mohammad Sarwar Morshed of the Department of Mechanical and Production Engineering at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST); and Associate Professor Dr Naznin Sultana Chaity of the School of Business and additional director of IQAC at AUST.

Through interactive discussions, practical exercises and group activities, participants gained insights into aligning course learning outcomes with programme objectives, developing effective assessment strategies and improving academic quality through systematic evaluation.

In his closing remarks, Vice-Chancellor Air Vice Marshal M Mustafizur Rahman emphasised the importance of implementing OBE across the university to promote student-centred learning, measurable academic achievements and continuous improvement in teaching and assessment.

He also highlighted the need to develop a strong academic quality assurance culture to prepare competent graduates with the knowledge, skills and professional attributes required by the evolving aviation and aerospace sectors.

The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates among participants, the exchange of souvenirs and a group photograph.

The initiative reflects AAUB’s continued commitment to strengthening faculty competencies, promoting outcome-oriented education and maintaining high academic standards in specialised aviation and aerospace higher education in Bangladesh.
