Superstar Rajinikanth has broken his no-sequel rule by agreeing to 'Jailer 2' after rejecting sequel proposals for 'Petta 2' and 'Baasha 2', saying the original film’s unresolved conflicts offered a compelling story for another instalment.
Speaking at the film’s pre-release event, Rajinikanth said he was generally reluctant to make sequels because they often add little to the original story. However, after rewatching 'Jailer', he felt the threat posed by antagonist Varma’s wider criminal network and the three containers worth thousands of crores provided a strong basis for a sequel.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, 'Jailer 2' will see Rajinikanth reprise his role as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on October 15.
