Four qualifying finals set the stage for J-30 main draw

The 36th Bangladesh World Tennis Tour Junior J-30 got under way at the National Tennis Complex in Ramna on Sunday, with the opening day serving up a series of competitive qualifying contests in the boys' singles.

The ITF-sanctioned tournament, organised by the Bangladesh Tennis Federation, will see the four qualifying finals played on Monday before the main draw gets under way on 13 October.

India's Suvigya Choudhury will face China's Tianyi Fang in the first qualifying final. Choudhury, who received a first-round walkover, beat Bangladesh's Md Tanvir 6-2, 6-3 in the second round. Fang, meanwhile, advanced after a first-round bye and a 7-5, 6-4 victory over India's Shardul Khaowale.

The second final pits India's S Hussain against Bangladesh's Md Akash Hossain. Hussain defeated Li Shaoyuan 6-4, 6-3, while Akash edged India's Mohammed Ariz Khan in a hard-fought contest after the match was level at 1-6, 6-1, winning the decisive tie-break.

China's Sicheng Yang and Shaoshuijia Shao will meet in the third final. Yang overcame India's Ayan and Bangladesh's Raj Bhor Obinash, while Shao accounted for Bangladesh's Mushfikur Rahman Apon and Japan's Tani Ryoma.

The final qualifying clash will see China's Jiakuo Li take on Japan's Ryunsuke Yaginuma. Li beat Bangladesh's MA Al Mahid 6-1, 6-2, while Yaginuma swept aside India's Abandeep Choudhury and Singapore's Jack.
With the finishing line now in sight, Monday's four winners will earn their tickets to the main draw and keep their title hopes alive.
