KUSHTIA, Oct 11: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Sunday foiled an attempt by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) to push four people"two women and two men"into Bangladesh through the Thotarpara border in Daulatpur upazila of the district.
The incident took place around 8:30am near international border pillar No. 153/9-S, within the Thotarpara Border Outpost (BOP) area of Pragpur Union in the upazila.
According to the BGB, members of the BSF’s 146th Battalion, stationed at the Udaynagar camp in India, attempted to push the four individuals. Alert BGB intervened and foiled the attempt, forcing the BSF members to retreat into India with the four.
The identities and nationalities of the four individuals, as well as the reasons behind the attempted push-in, remained unknown at the time of filing this report.
Ashrafuzzaman Mukul, chairman of Pragpur Union Parishad, confirmed that the BGB had blocked the attempt and that the BSF had taken the four people back into Indian territory.
Lieutenant Colonel Rashed Kamal Rony, commander of the BGB’s 47th Battalion in Kushtia, said the BSF had attempted to push the four individuals into Bangladesh illegally through the Thotarpara BOP area.
