Afghan authorities have suspended BBC FM radio broadcasts across the country, the British broadcaster confirmed on Tuesday, saying it was working with the authorities to resolve the issue.
In a statement, a BBC spokesperson said millions of people across Afghanistan relied on the broadcaster for accurate news and information.
“We are talking to the authorities to resolve this issue,” the spokesperson said.
Khabib Ghufran, spokesperson for Afghanistan’s Taliban-run Ministry of Information and Culture, said all BBC activities had been temporarily suspended over repeated violations of regulations.
However, he did not specify which rules or regulations the broadcaster had allegedly violated.
