Seven children died with measles symptoms and 1,327 new cases of suspected and confirmed measles were reported across Bangladesh in the 24 hours till Wednesday (October 14), according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the new cases, 1,199 involved suspected measles and 128 were confirmed, a DGHS press release said on Wednesday.

Since March 15, the country has recorded 208,570 suspected measles cases and 22,840 confirmed cases, according to the health authorities.

During the same period, 185,390 patients with measles symptoms were admitted to hospitals, while 177,698 recovered and were discharged.

The death toll from suspected measles cases reached 1,073 since March 15. Another 104 people died from confirmed measles during the period.
