Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said the country’s thousand-year-old culture is not being properly presented to the younger generation.
Speaking at a meeting with Ministry of Cultural Affairs officials at the Secretariat on Wednesday, he stressed the need to promote local heritage while embracing foreign cultures and new technologies.
He directed officials to make Shilpakala Academies more active and encourage reading among young people through mobile libraries, reading circles and book-reading competitions.
Officials also briefed him on plans for the Lalon Festival, Nazrul Year and winter cultural festivals scheduled from December to May.
