Ten more people have died of dengue in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 1,943 patients have been hospitalised with the mosquito-borne disease.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information in its regular dengue bulletin on Thursday (October 15).

According to the DGHS, the death toll from dengue has reached 331 this year. Of them, 86 died in the first 14 days of October. September recorded the highest number of deaths at 148, followed by 43 in August, 36 in July, 13 in June and one in May. Two deaths each were reported in January and February.

The bulletin said 1,943 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country between 8:00 am Wednesday and 8:00 AM Thursday.

With the latest figures, the total number of hospitalisations from dengue this year has reached 107,259.

Meanwhile, 1,830 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 101,031.
