Youth shot dead in Sitakunda

A 26-year-old youth was shot dead and another injured in a shooting by miscreants in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Tarek Hossain Bappi, 26, of Madhyam Mahadababad area in Sitakunda. The injured, Tafsir Alam Shawon, 22, is a resident of Alinagar area under Barabkunda.

The incident took place in front of an office owned by a man named Saddam in Alinagar, Barabkunda, on Friday night.

According to relatives, a group of miscreants launched a sudden attack, leaving Tarek and Tafsir with gunshot wounds. They were rescued and taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where the on-duty physician declared Tarek dead.

Sub-Inspector Nurul Alam Ashek of the hospital police outpost confirmed the incident on Saturday (October 17). He said Tafsir had been admitted to Ward No. 2 of the hospital and was undergoing treatment.
