Import and export activities through Bangladesh’s Banglabandha land port and India’s Fulbari land port will remain suspended for seven days from Saturday (October 17) on the occasion of Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of the Hindu community.
Abul Kalam Azad, manager and in-charge of Banglabandha Land Port Limited, confirmed the decision in a letter from the Fulbari Exporters and Importers Welfare Association.
According to sources, port authorities, importers, exporters and clearing and forwarding (C&F) agents jointly decided to suspend trade from Saturday (October 17), until October 24.
Import and export activities are scheduled to resume at 9:00AM on Sunday (October 25).
Azad said he had received a letter confirming the suspension.
“According to the decision taken by the traders, import and export activities through the port will remain suspended for seven days from today,” he said.
However, passenger movement between the two countries will continue during the period for travellers holding valid passports and visas.
