The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has installed 32 CCTV cameras and 18 large monitors at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka to strengthen baggage security and improve transparency in baggage handling.
In a press release issued on Saturday, October 17, CAAB said the cameras had been installed across eight baggage belt areas, alongside 18 monitors measuring 65 inches each.
The new system will allow passengers to watch the baggage handling process live, from the unloading of luggage from aircraft and its transportation to designated areas to sorting and delivery to baggage belts.
The initiative is expected to give passengers a clearer understanding of how their luggage is handled and improve transparency, efficiency and accountability at each stage of the process.
CAAB said it remained committed to protecting passengers' interests, ensuring safe and comfortable travel, and developing airport services in line with international standards.
The authority added that it would continue expanding technology-driven, passenger-friendly services to help domestic and international travellers, including expatriate Bangladeshis, collect their luggage safely and conveniently after their journeys.
