NBR suspends two over youth officer exam leak

Two employees of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) have been temporarily suspended over the leak of question papers for the Assistant Youth Development Officer recruitment examination under the Department of Youth Development.

Separate office orders issued by their respective offices on Saturday confirmed their suspensions.

The suspended employees are Md Jahangir Alam, an office assistant-cum-computer typist working under the NBR's Central Tax Survey Zone, and Md Nur Mohammad, an office support staff member of the Withholding Tax Management Unit.

The two NBR employees were among seven people, including five government employees, arrested over the alleged question paper leak, according to information disclosed at a press conference at the SRB Media Centre in Karwan Bazar, Dhaka, on Friday.

The recruitment examination for 242 vacant posts of Assistant Youth Development Officer under the Department of Youth Development was scheduled to be held on October 10.

A total of 319,000 candidates applied for the posts. Although the examination was scheduled to begin at 11AM, the authorities postponed it after confirming the question paper leak at 10:03AM that day.

Following the disclosure of the incident, the SRB launched a shadow investigation into the matter.
