Two killed in three-vehicle collision in Tangail

Two people were killed in a collision involving a passenger bus, a pickup van and a motorcycle on the Dhaka-Tangail highway in Jamurki, Mirzapur, on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased were Asif, 18, a motorcyclist from Basail in Tangail, and Abdul Rahim, 40, a pickup van helper from Ullapara in Sirajganj.

According to local sources, an S I Travels passenger bus was heading towards Dhaka when the driver lost control and hit a motorcycle travelling ahead. The bus then struck a pickup van in front of the motorcycle.

Both Asif and Rahim died at the scene.

Police from Gorai Highway Police Station recovered the bodies after reaching the spot.

Sub-Inspector Anisur Rahman of Gorai Highway Police Station said the bus and pickup van involved in the accident had been taken into police custody. The bodies would be handed over to the families after the completion of legal procedures.
