Eastern University’s School of Law and the Eastern University Moot Court Society (EUMCS) have concluded the sixth intra-department moot court competition, with 26 teams participating in the two-day event.
The competition, held on October 16 and 17 at the university campus in Ashulia, Dhaka, was organised in collaboration with The Bangladesh Dialogue (TBD), a civil society-led policy think tank, for the first time.
The final round on Saturday was adjudicated by a bench comprising Justice Md Rezaul Haque of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, Additional Attorney General Barrister Aneek R Haque and Eastern University School of Law Dean ABM Imdadul Haque Khan.

The Spirit of the Moot Award went to Obaidul Haque, Nukre U Kongney Marma and Mahmuda Akter for their perseverance throughout the competition.
The moot problem centred on a fictional dispute between two sovereign states, requiring participants to address issues of international environmental law, international watercourse law, treaty law and customary international law.
The problem explored states’ legal interests in enforcing obligations owed to the international community, the use of shared watercourses, transboundary environmental harm, and the principles of no harm and precaution.
The organisers said the competition aimed to promote mooting, legal scholarship and advocacy skills among law students in Bangladesh.
EUMCS thanked TBD, the adjudicators and participating teams for their contributions to the event, reaffirming its commitment to promoting professional integrity and excellence in legal education.
