Man who stabs BNP leader, beaten to death

BHOLA, Oct 19: A 25-year-old man died in hospital early Sunday after being beaten by a mob following the stabbing of a local BNP leader in the district.

Asif, son of Md Dhalu Howlader of Rajapur in Bhola Sadar Upazila, allegedly stabbed Mohammad Hossain Manager, President of the BNP’s Rajapur Ward No. 7 unit, over previous enmity at Anandabazar on Saturday evening.

Relatives of the injured leader and other locals allegedly beat Asif before police rescued him and took him to Bhola 250-bed General Hospital, where he died at around 4 am on Sunday.

Hossain Manager, who was seriously injured in the attack, is receiving treatment at a hospital in Dhaka.
Officer-in-Charge of Bhola Sadar Police Station Md Monirul Islam confirmed the news.
