Dear Sir,
The rising price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is making everyday life increasingly difficult for ordinary people in Bangladesh. As many urban households depend on cylinder gas for cooking, price hikes place a heavy burden on low- and middle-income families.
In October 2026, the official price of a 12kg LPG cylinder rose from Tk1,585 to Tk1,837, an increase of Tk252 in just one month. In rural areas, the same cylinder reportedly costs Tk2,200. Such high costs force families to spend more on cooking fuel, leaving less money for children’s education, healthcare and other essential needs. Households already struggling to manage their monthly expenses must now make further sacrifices to afford this necessity.
I urge the relevant authorities to keep LPG prices affordable, ensure that cylinders are sold at officially fixed rates and take strict action against traders who charge excessive prices. Timely intervention is essential to protect consumers from further financial hardship.
