Three persons were found dead in separate incidents in Jashore District, Tongi of Gazipur and Ulipur Upazila of Kurigram District on Tuesday.

JASHORE: An elderly woman was found with her throat slit inside her home in Abhaynagar Upazila of the district on Tuesday morning.

The body of Achhia Begum was recovered around 10:30 am from her home in Ramnagar Village under Siddhipasha Union.

Achhia Begum was the wife of Abu Daud Sheikh and lived with her sister. Her daughter, Panna Begum, said the two women had been living together since her father’s death. Her aunt left on Monday to visit one of her daughters, leaving her mother alone at home.

Neighbours called out to Begum but received no response on Tuesday morning. They later found her body on a bed inside the house and informed police, who recovered it.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Abhaynagar Police Station (PS) Nuruzzaman said investigators had begun examining the case and collecting potential evidence. He declined to disclose further details, citing the ongoing investigation.

TONGI, GAZIPUR: River police recovered the half decomposed body of an unidentified approximately 51-year-old man from the banks of the Turag River in Tongi early Tuesday.

According to police, local residents spotted the body in the Pratyasha Math area under Tongi West Police Station and informed authorities.

Tongi West PS OC Md Arifur Rahman said that the body was in an advanced state of decomposition, with the flesh peeling off. Investigators have not yet determined how long the body had been in the water, nor the cause of death or how it reached the riverbank.

River police has filed an unnatural death case in this connection. The body has been sent to the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy, and police are working to establish the deceased’s identity.

ULIPUR, KURIGRAM: Police recovered the dismembered body of Moksed Ali, 60, alias Bachchu Mia, from a bedroom in his nephew’s house in Ulipur Upazila of the district on Tuesday, after he was allegedly murdered overnight on Monday.
