More than 15,000 candidates have applied for the 51st special Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination for medical recruitment in the 22 days since online applications opened on October 1. The application deadline is Sunday, October 25.
An official of the examination wing of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) confirmed the information to Jago News on Thursday, October 22.
The official said slightly more than 15,000 candidates had applied, but many had yet to pay the application fee. The exact number of completed applications is therefore not yet available.
The BPSC published the circular for the 51st special BCS on its website on September 24. Applications can be submitted online from 10:00am on October 1 until 6:00pm on October 25. No applications will be accepted after the deadline.
Candidates who complete their application and receive a user ID by 6:00pm on October 25 will have until 6:00pm on October 28 to pay the fee. Applicants have also been advised not to submit multiple application forms.
Candidates must be Bangladeshi citizens aged between 21 and 32 as of September 1, 2026. Those who marry or commit to marrying a foreign national without government permission will be considered ineligible.
The 51st special BCS will recruit 5,000 doctors for the health cadre, including 4,700 assistant surgeons and 300 assistant dental surgeons. Applicants for assistant surgeon posts must hold an MBBS or equivalent degree, while assistant dental surgeon candidates must have a BDS or equivalent degree.
