Netflix is set to expand its Bengali content catalogue by adding Bangladeshi productions 'Mohanagar' and 'Bohemian Ghora' under a reported partnership with streaming platform hoichoi, bringing the titles to a wider international audience.
Under the reported agreement, hoichoi’s acclaimed series and upcoming original productions will be made available on Netflix in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu over the next two years, according to a report published by Dhaka Post.
The partnership is also expected to cover several other hoichoi titles, including 'Madam Inspector', 'Sampurna', 'Lojja', 'Eken' and 'The Curse of Paranashabari', as the platform seeks to expand the reach of Bengali storytelling beyond its traditional audience.
Hoichoi’s new original releases will reportedly debut on its own platform alongside dubbed versions on Netflix. One of the upcoming titles, the folklore-based horror series 'The Cursed Temple of Kouriburi', is scheduled for release on November 6.
The reported agreement also includes plans for new original series produced by hoichoi Studios, with further details expected to be announced later.
