Observer Online Report

The body of Dalia Akter Suma, 50, a leader of the Jubo Mohila League, was recovered from her flat in Rasul pur Bazar under Basta Union in Keraniganj, Dhaka, on Friday morning.

Police recovered her body from a third-floor flat in a building housing a Sonali Bank branch and sent it to the morgue of Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital (Mitford) for autopsy.

Suma was the president of the Basta Union unit of the Jubo Mohila League under Keraniganj Model Police Station. She was the daughter of Liaquat Sikder of the Rasul pur area.

According to police and local sources, Suma had been living in the flat with her two daughters after her divorce. She also worked part-time as a teacher at Char Baghapur Government Primary School. She had been living alone in the flat since her daughters got married.

Police recovered the body after receiving information from local residents on Friday morning.

Inspector (Investigation) of South Keraniganj Police Station Md Azgar Hossain confirmed the recovery, saying police were investigating who was responsible for the murder.

Members of the Criminal Investigation Department’s crime scene unit visited the spot and collected evidence. Further legal proceedings are under way.
