French police have arrested 135 people on Saturday (October 24) as protests over school funding and rising living costs spread across the country, prompting authorities to deploy tens of thousands of officers under tight security according to Al Jazeera.
Interior Minister Laurent Nunez announced the arrests as France braced for another wave of demonstrations following some of the worst riots in years.
In Paris, authorities restricted the main march to the southeastern outskirts of the capital, keeping demonstrators away from the city centre.
The protests have been organised amid growing public discontent over education funding and the rising cost of living.
