THAKURGAON, Oct 24: Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General (SG) Mia Golam Porwar on Saturday accused ruling BNP of corruption, extortion and political favouritism, alleging that its eight months in power had been marked by administrative instability and failures to meet public needs.
Speaking at an election rally at Thakurgaon Government Boys' High School ground in afternoon, he criticised the government over alleged irregularities in public procurement, drug smuggling, fuel price increases and the distribution of agricultural inputs.
The rally was organised ahead of the by-election to the Thakurgaon-1 parliamentary constituency, where Jamaat has nominated Delawar Hossain.
Porwar claimed that four MPs and ministers had already been forced to resign in less than eight months and accused BNP leaders of making contradictory statements about government policy.
“Not even eight months have passed, yet four MPs and ministers have already been forced to resign. Their statements change from morning to afternoon,” he said.
