The trial in the attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan began on Friday, with a staff nurse identifying accused Mohammed Shariful in court and testifying that the intruder demanded ₹1 crore during an alleged robbery attempt at the actor’s Bandra residence in January 2025.
The nurse, who cared for Saif and Kareena Kapoor’s younger son, Jeh, said she woke up around 2AM after hearing a noise and saw a man moving towards the child’s bed. When she tried to pick up Jeh, the intruder allegedly attacked her with a hacksaw blade and ordered her to remain quiet.
The commotion woke another nanny, who raised the alarm. Saif and Kareena rushed out of their rooms, and the actor confronted the intruder. The nurse testified that the man attacked Saif and another staff member before Saif managed to overpower him. The intruder later escaped, while Saif was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Mumbai Police arrested Shariful three days after the January 2025 attack. The trial began after the court rejected his second attempt to plead guilty, according to The Hindustan Times.
