Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has launched a six-week mobile phone servicing training programme for young people in the Monakasha border area of Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj to develop their skills and create employment opportunities.
The programme was formally inaugurated at 10:00am on Monday at the Monakasha Union Parishad hall. Organised by Chapainawabganj Battalion (53 BGB), the training has enrolled 35 youths from different villages of Monakasha Union. It will continue until December 3.
According to BGB, alongside protecting the border and safeguarding the country's sovereignty, the force has been carrying out various welfare activities to improve the socioeconomic conditions of people living in border areas. The latest initiative aims to provide young people with opportunities to acquire technical skills.
Through the training, participants will develop mobile phone servicing skills and gain opportunities for self-employment. BGB hopes the initiative will also help reduce unemployment, promote self-reliance and encourage young people to stay away from criminal activities and build better, safer lives.
Earlier, 35 youths received training in electrical work and house wiring at the Charbagdanga Union Parishad hall in Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila from September 6 to October 15.
Those present at the inauguration included 53 BGB Commanding Officer Lt Col Kazi Mustafizur Rahman, PSC; Assistant Director Mohammad Nazrul Islam; Shibganj Police Station Investigation Officer-in-Charge Anisur Rahman; Monakasha Union Parishad Chairman Mirza Shahadat; local representatives and dignitaries; and the commander of Monakasha Border Outpost (BOP), along with other BGB members.
BGB said, such welfare initiatives would continue in the future to create alternative employment opportunities, enhance skills and improve the socioeconomic conditions of people living in border areas.
