Yemen’s Houthi rebels have ordered the evacuation of Aden airport, claiming a Saudi military cargo plane carrying weapons had landed there and would be targeted.
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree issued the warning in a Telegram post on Wednesday, October 28, urging everyone at the airport to leave immediately.
He alleged that the aircraft was supplying weapons used to kill Yemenis.
Aden serves as the temporary capital of Yemen’s internationally recognised government, while Sanaa is the country’s capital.
The Houthis recently fired at least five ballistic missiles at the presidential palace in Aden, targeting the prime minister and other ministers. At least four presidential guards were killed in the attack.
