Bangladesh women clinch compound team gold in Sulaymaniyah

Bangladesh's compound women's team struck gold at the Asia Cup World Ranking Tournament Stage 2 in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, beating Kazakhstan 230-220 in Wednesday's final.

Bannya Akter, Kulsuma Akter Moni and Sriporna Biswas produced a composed performance under pressure, keeping Kazakhstan at arm's length throughout the four ends to secure Bangladesh's latest international archery success.

Bangladesh made a flying start, taking the opening end 57-55. The trio then tightened their grip on the contest with another 57 points in the second end, while Kazakhstan managed 52.

The third end saw Bangladesh extend their advantage further, scoring 58 against Kazakhstan's 56. With a 172-163 lead going into the final end, the Bangladesh archers held their nerve and added another 58 points. Kazakhstan responded with 57, leaving Bangladesh 10 points clear at the finish.

The 230-220 victory earned the Bangladesh trio the top step of the podium and added another notable chapter to the country's growing presence in international compound archery.

The result also underlined the progress of Bangladesh's women archers, who combined consistency, composure and accuracy when the pressure was at its highest. Their ability to maintain the lead across all four ends proved decisive as they kept Kazakhstan at bay and brought home the gold.
