Gazans hope Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will lose power, though they doubt his potential successor, former army chief Gadi Eisenkot, would significantly change Israel’s policy towards Gaza.

“We will choose the lesser of two evils,” Khan Younis resident Ayman Ahmed told the Associated Press, expressing support for Eisenkot because he backs US President Donald Trump’s Gaza deal.

Another resident, Mohammed Abed, said an Eisenkot victory would not dramatically change the situation, as their policies were largely similar.
