SHERPUR, BOGURA, Oct 30: A mobile court conducted by Sherpur Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun sentenced four men to six months in prison without hard labour each after their guardians sought administrative intervention over their drug addiction.
The men identified as Jahangir Alam, 26, of Poshi Village, Sohan, 19, of Uttar Amain Village, Milton Hossain, 30, of Sohagipara Village, all in Kusumbi Union, and Rony Sarkar, 37, of Sonarpara Village in Garidaha Union were detained on Wednesday and brought before the court, where they admitted their offenses.
Family members had grown increasingly concerned about their behaviour and appealed to the UNO’s office for help, the sources said. The four were subsequently detained at their respective homes while using drugs.
Inspector (Investigation) of Sherpur Police Station Jainul Abedin said the four men were sent to Bogura District Jail on Wednesday afternoon.
