AKM Enayetul Karim, father of former Bangladesh Air Force Flight Lieutenant KM Tahsif Souri, whose body was recovered from Turag River on October 29, has filed a case with Uttarkhan Police Station against unidentified individuals.

The police station OC Md Habib confirmed the matter on Saturday (October 31) morning.

Meanwhile, Tahsif’s business partner and friend, Shahriar Reza Dip, has been shown arrested and subsequently handed over by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to the Naval Police.

The PBI headquarters confirmed the development this morning.

According to PBI sources, Dip was handed over to the Naval Police shortly after midnight on Saturday. As the family reportedly showed no interest in pursuing a criminal case, the Naval Police said it would file an unnatural death case in connection with the incident.

Earlier, on Thursday night, PBI officials took Dip into custody from the third floor of a residence in Block B of Babar Road in Mohammadpur, Dhaka. He is the son of Selim Reza, a resident of the area.

Investigators began questioning Dip because he had reportedly spent around six hours with Tahsif before the latter went missing. The PBI sought to establish what had happened during that period.

On Friday, a PBI investigation team took Dip to the Mazar Basti area of Tongi and questioned him about the events near boundary pillar No. 29 beside the Turag River.

Based on information provided by Dip, investigators recovered a black Suzuki Gixxer 150 motorcycle from the area. The motorcycle had no registration number plate.

During questioning, Dip gave his account of the night Tahsif disappeared. According to his statement, he and Tahsif had gone to the Mazar Basti area beside the Turag River, where they were talking when several people chased them.

Dip claimed that two of the individuals were wearing police uniforms.

He further told investigators that Tahsif started running after seeing the group and eventually jumped into the Turag River. Dip, meanwhile, said he took shelter behind Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) boundary pillar No. 29 before leaving the area.

Investigators have been examining the circumstances surrounding Tahsif’s disappearance and death.
