Ex-DB chief Harun dismissed from service

Former DB chief  and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner Harun-or-Rashid has been dismissed from service over unauthorised absence from duty, according to a Home Ministry notification issued on Saturday (October 31).

The notification said Harun, a DIG-rank officer, remained absent without permission while serving as additional commissioner (Crime and Operations), despite repeated attempts to contact him.

A departmental case was filed against him on April 15, 2026. An investigation found the charge of desertion proven under the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018. He ignored two show-cause notices and did not respond to the allegations.
