Factory warehouse, police vehicle set on fire in Gazipur

A factory warehouse and a law enforcement vehicle were set on fire during workers’ unrest and a highway blockade over wage hikes in GGazipur's Kaliakair, while protesters also obstructed a fire service vehicle, disrupting firefighting efforts.

The incidents took place around noon on Sunday in the Chandra Palli Bidyut area of Kaliakair upazila, where workers set fire to a warehouse of Tropical Knitex Limited and a vehicle belonging to law enforcement agencies.

Local sources said thick black smoke quickly spread across the surrounding area after the warehouse caught fire. There were concerns that the blaze could spread to the main factory if it was not brought under control quickly.
