Dear Sir,
The recent initiative by Walton Hi-Tech Park in Chandra, Gazipur, has set a commendable example of solar power generation. Experts believe solar energy can make a significant contribution to Bangladesh’s renewable energy sector, particularly as the country struggles with growing energy demands.
We should encourage factories, offices and other institutions to install solar panels to reduce dependence on conventional electricity, lower generation costs and ensure long-term savings. Moreover, solar power is environmentally friendly. Reducing dependence on fossil fuels will help cut carbon emissions and address the threats of climate change. Solar installations can also ensure a more reliable electricity supply in remote areas.
However, high installation costs, limited technical knowledge and maintenance challenges continue to hinder its wider adoption. Therefore, the government should provide incentives, facilitate easy loans, promote public awareness and encourage advanced technologies. Government, private institutions and citizens must work together to make solar energy a greater part of Bangladesh's energy future.
