Bangladesh's Acting Foreign Minister Humayun Kabir has invited UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to visit Bangladesh on behalf of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
He extended the invitation during a meeting with UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband on Monday (November 2) in St John's, Antigua and Barbuda, on the sidelines of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
According to a Foreign Ministry press release, both ministers expressed satisfaction over the growing bilateral relations between the two countries.
They discussed Bangladesh's strong export presence in the UK market, British investment in Bangladesh and the country's agreement to purchase Airbus aircraft for its national flag carrier.
The ministers also agreed to continue mutual cooperation and support at multilateral forums on issues including climate change, safe, orderly and regular migration, and humanitarian assistance.
Miliband expressed gratitude to Bangladesh for sheltering more than one million Rohingyas and assured continued UK humanitarian support for the displaced community.
