DMP arrests 549 in Dhaka

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 549 people and filed 57 cases during regular drives across the capital in the past 24 hours.

DMP spokesperson Md Aktar Hossain confirmed the information.

He said 152 people were arrested in Mirpur, 75 in Tejgaon, 69 in Gulshan, 66 in Wari, 56 in Uttara, 51 in Motijheel, 46 in Lalbagh, 30 in Ramna and four by the Detective Branch (DB).

Police also recovered 29.2 kg of cannabis, 128 yaba pills, 19 bottles of phensedyl, two litres of petrol, fragments of two exploded cocktails, eight mobile phones and Tk 36,380 in cash. One victim was also rescued.

The drives were conducted in different areas of the capital on Monday (November 2). Further legal action is underway.
