Sumona returns to the team, just as Nahida’s captaincy begins

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy. The team is set to depart for the United Arab Emirates on November 10 to compete in the tournament, which will be held in Ajman. This tournament marks the beginning of Nahida Akter’s tenure as the T20 captain.

The squad features a blend of experienced players and promising young talent. Alongside Nahida and Sobhana, the team includes players such as Nigar Sultana Joty, Sharmin Akter Supta, Ritu Moni, and Fahima Khatun.

The 15-member roster also includes Swarna Akter, Dilara Akter, Rabeya Khan, Disha Biswas, Juairiya Ferdous, Jannatul Ferdous Sumona, Sanjida Akter Meghla, and Sathi Rani.

Sumona makes her return to the side for this tournament; she had been left out of the squad for last year’s ODI World Cup in India and subsequently missed the Asia Cup and the Asian Games. The all-rounder has been recalled following the change in captaincy. Additionally, pacer Fariha Islam Trishna has returned after recovering from an injury that kept her sidelined during the Asia Cup and the Asian Games.

Bangladesh’s opening match of the tournament is against Pakistan on November 11. Nahida’s team will then face Zimbabwe on November 13, the Netherlands on November 16, and Thailand on November 18. The group stage matches will be held at the Karwan Cricket Ground and the Seven Districts Ground in Ajman.

Should Bangladesh advance to the 'Super Six' stage, they will have the opportunity to play three further matches on November 20, 22, and 23. The tournament final is scheduled for November 25. Bangladesh Squad
