The Indian High Commission in Dhaka has made a prescribed Visa Undertaking Form mandatory for all categories of Indian visa applications, introducing a new requirement from Thursday (November 5).

Under the new rules, applicants must download the designated form, fill it out, scan it and upload it with their online applications through the NIC Visa Application Portal. Applications submitted in any other format will not be accepted.

The one-page form requires applicants to provide their passport details, nationality, date of birth, current address in Dhaka and purpose of travel, including tourism, business or medical treatment.

Applicants must also pledge to return home after their visit, avoid overstaying their visas and comply with Indian laws and regulations. Any violation could lead to visa cancellation and affect eligibility for future visas.

For minor applicants, signatures from both parents are mandatory.

The High Commission said the new requirement aims to make the visa application process more transparent and orderly.
