Teacher’s house set afire at Koyra

KOYRA, KHULNA, Nov 6: Miscreants have set fire to the residence of G M Abdur Rashid, an assistant teacher at the Kalikapur Government Primary School in Koyra Upazila of the district, sparking panic among the local residents. 

It is reported that the empty house was set afire through a window of the house in Kalikapur Village early Friday. The blaze burnt bedding, clothing, and furniture to ashes, and also partially destroyed a nearby paddy storage bin. Later, locals managed to bring the fire under control. 

As the teacher’s son, Tufan, a former student leader, resides in Khulna with his family; the miscreants took advantage of the house being empty and set it afire.

Local Union Parishad Member Md Ferdous Dhali confirmed the incident, saying, “Upon hearing the news, I visited the scene.” 
Officer-in-Charge of Koyra Police Station Md Rashedul Alam said that police were dispatched to the scene immediately after receiving the news.
