The release date for Bollywood actor Salman Khan's upcoming film 'Matrubhoomi: May War Rest in Peace' has been officially announced, dismissing speculation regarding shooting delays and government clearance issues.
Speaking at a promotional event in Mumbai on Thursday (November 6), the actor addressed rumors surrounding the project, denying reports that filming was delayed due to objections from the Indian central government.
The film, which was initially titled Battle of Galwan, reportedly underwent a title change and script adjustments to obtain necessary clearances from the Ministry of Defence and central authorities—claims that Khan rejected as baseless.
"That is all nonsense and completely untrue," Khan stated regarding the reports of government interference and re-shoots.
Explaining the core theme of the project, he added: "We made this film about soldiers, highlighting the conditions they endure and the challenges faced by their families. There is no negative force portrayed here; the situation itself is the challenge."
The film is inspired by the June 2020 military clash between Indian and Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley. Reports had previously suggested that the release was being handled cautiously due to diplomatic sensitivities involving India-China relations.
Initially scheduled for a theatrical debut in April 2026, the release date was subsequently revised. Matrubhoomi: May War Rest in Peace is now scheduled to hit cinemas worldwide on December 4.
