Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Golam Rabbani has called for building a democratic, self-reliant and prosperous Bangladesh by upholding the spirit of November 7.
“An uprising is meaningful not through a change of power, but through a change in people's fortunes. True national solidarity lies in establishing mutual trust and confidence among people,” he said.
He made the remarks at a discussion meeting organised by the university on Saturday, marking National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
The programme was held at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Mohammad Ruhul Amin Auditorium, where a doa mahfil was also organised seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of former president Ziaur Rahman.
In his speech, the vice-chancellor highlighted the historical significance of November 7, 1975, and its impact on the country's political development.
He stressed the need to strengthen national unity, expand employment opportunities, promote agriculture and industry, encourage private investment and improve the quality of education.
He also called on universities to focus on research and innovation, particularly in artificial intelligence, information technology, agriculture, healthcare and engineering.
