Neuer ruled out for rest of 2026 with foot injury

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is expected to miss the remainder of 2026 after suffering a partial tendon tear in his right foot during the club's 2-1 Bundesliga win over Mainz on Saturday (November 7).

The 40-year-old was forced off shortly before half-time after sustaining the injury. Bayern confirmed the diagnosis following an examination by the club's medical team but did not specify a recovery timeline.

According to German newspaper Bild, Neuer could be sidelined for around two months, ruling him out for the rest of the year.

The injury is a setback for Bayern coach Vincent Kompany, who will have to rely on back-up goalkeeper Jonas Urbig during Neuer's absence.

Neuer had already missed four matches in recent weeks because of problems with his right foot before returning for Bayern's Champions League match against Atletico Madrid.
