Census Reports Published In Districts

Population data to help govt implement plans

Population and Housing Census Reports-2022 were published in different districts of the country including Gaibandha, Jamalpur, and Panchagarh.

GAIBANDHA:  As per the population census conducted by the BBS (Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics), the total population of the district is 25,62,223.

Of them, the number of male is 12,41,145 and female is 13,20,967 while the number of Hijras or transgender people  is 153.  

This was disclosed by Deputy Director (DD) of the BBS-Gaibandha Md Enamul Haque at a publication ceremony of the census report in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) office.

District administration and District Statistics Office (DSO) under the BBS jointly arranged the function to brief officials and public representatives and journalists about the census. The census was conducted by the BBS under the Ministry of Planning.

Additional DC (ICT and Human Resources Management) Sushanta Kumar Mahato attended the function and addressed it as the chief guest on behalf of DC Kazi Nahid Rasul.

Additional Superintendent of Police (SP) Ibrahim Hossain was special guest at the function.

Speakers said, proper data are very essential to accept the plan of any development work of the government and non-government organizations.

It also helps the organizations implement the work successfully, they added.

They further said, so there is no alternative to updating census to take country towards desired goals.

Earlier, a presentation was also made by DD of BBS Md Enamul Haque.

In the presentation, he said, 1,66,662 people live in Fulchhari Upazila, 4,99,196 in Sadar Upazila, 5,43,144 in Gobindaganj Upazila, 2,67,438 in Polashbari Upazila, 313,628 in Sadullapur  Upazila, 2,89,628 in Saghata Upazila, and 4,82, 537 in Sundarganj Upazila of the district.
 
JAMALPUR:  The Population and Housing Census Report of the district was unveiled in the district at a function held in the conference room of the DC office.  

Under the supervision of the BBS and DSO, the report was conducted.

The report carried data till June 15, 2022.

According to the report, the population in Jamalpur was 24,99,738 including 12,16,204 males, 12,83,423 females and 111 transgender people in 2022.

Of them, 18,49,245 live in rural area and 6,50,493 live in urban area.

Besides, total houses in the district were 6,76,452 including  5,12,275 in rural area and 1,64,177 in urban area.

In the district, 99.17 per cent people enjoyed electricity facility.

DC Md Shafiur Rahaman unveiled the cover of the census report.

He said, the census was carried out maintaining the world standard.

The census will help government implement priority-based development works for general people, he added.

Additional DC (General) Shitesh Chandra Sarkar presided over the meeting.

DD of the DSO Md Firoz Ibne Eusuf presented the report on the census.

PANCHAGARH:  The census report was unveiled at a function held in the DC office conference room.

The function was jointly organized by the district administration and the DSO in collaboration with the Census and Home Census Project.

DSO Abu Saleh Md Rabbani gave the welcome speech.

Statistics Officer Asadul Alam Pradhan highlighted various indicators of the report and answered various questions.

Additional DC Md Abu Sayeed was present as the chief guest. Additional SP SM Shafiqul Islam was present as special guest.

Among others, DD of Family Planning Department ATM Sanaullah Noori, Atwari Upazila Chairman Advocate Anisur Rahman, Sadar Upazila Chairman AS Shahnewaz Prodhan Shuvo, Bir Muktijoddha Alauddin Prodhan, District Child Affairs Officer Md Aktaruzzaman, and Journalist Shahidul Islam Shahid spoke at the meeting.
