Six firearms recovered in Pabna, Sirajganj

Six firearms were recovered in separate incidents in two districts - Pabna and Sirajganj, recently.
 
PABNA: Detective Branch (DB) Police, in a special operation aimed at recovering illegal weapons, recovered three abandoned firearms from different locations in Sadar and Atgharia upazilas of the district recently.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Masud Alam confirmed the recovery in a press release.

According to police reports, acting on a tip-off, under the direction of Pabna SP Md Mortoza Ali Khan, a team of District DB Police led by its Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Emran Mahmud Tuhin conducted a drive near the main gate of the Rajapur Calico Mill in Pabna Sadar. During the drive, a locally-made one-shooter gun was recovered.

Meanwhile, DB Police Sub-Inspector (SI) (unarmed) Benu Roy, with the help of accompanying officers, conducted another drive behind Modern KG School in Ekdanta Baraipara of Atgharia Upazila, and recovered an abandoned firearm resembling a locally-made Chinese rifle. 

Later that night, another one-shooter gun was found abandoned in a litchi orchard owned by Md Badsha Mia in Pushpapara Village of Atgharia.

ASP Masud Alam stated that legal action has been taken regarding the recovered firearms. 

SIRAJGANJ: The law enforcers, in a joint operation, recovered three one-shooter pipe guns and 19 rounds of lead ball cartridges, which were being illegally kept in possession in Shahjadpur Upazila of the district.

The drive took place in Parkola Cluster Village of the upazila.

Shahjadpur Police Station (PS) OC Sabuj Rana said that the first recovery was made from the house of one Samad Ali, 37, where a one-shooter pipe gun and six rounds of lead ball cartridges were found hidden in a plastic sack under a bed. 

In a similar manner, the second pipe gun and seven cartridges were recovered from the house of Shahadat Hossain, 26, in the same area. Additionally, the house of Nazrul Islam yielded another pipe gun and six cartridges.

None of the accused was present during the operation.

However, separate cases have been filed against the three suspects under the Arms Act with Shahjadpur PS, the OC added.
