Labour Rights Alliance urges parties to include labour manifesto in their platforms

The Labour Rights National Advocacy Alliance submitted its manifesto to all political parties for inclusion in their party manifestos at a press conference held at a city hotel on Wednesday ahead of the upcoming election.

They aim at ensuring its inclusion in parties election manifesto as part of their commitment to labor issuers.  
Alliance Member Secretary and BILS Executive Director Syed Sultan Uddin Ahmed presented the contents of the labour manifesto at the conference. 

Alliance Convener and BILS Secretary General Nazrul Islam Khan and Senior Joint Convener and National Labour Alliance President Mesbahuddin Ahmed spoke.

A 15-point recommendation was presented in the press conference, which included Ensuring legal recognition, registration and protection of all workers through necessary amendments to the labor law. Ensure the right and opportunity of working people to decent and dignified work.  

Ensure fair wages that are dignified and suitable for life development for all workers. Safe and healthy working environment, increase the amount of compensation in accidents and publish the trial and investigation reports of all accidents. Social security including ration, housing, healthcare for working people. 

Nazrul Islam Khan said the Alliance will take this manifesto to the workers at the field level in the one hand, and will continue to communicate, lobby and advocate with policy makers at the national level on the other. 

Syed Sultan Uddin Ahmed, emphasized on the national minimum wage, elimination of wage discrimination in all fields and social security for all workers, saying that in all movements, workers give their blood but their contribution is later ignored.
 
Joint Coordinator of Sramik Karmachar Oikya Parishad Abdul Kader Howlader, President of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal Anwar Hossain, President of Jatiya Sramik Jote Bangladesh Saifuzzaman Badsha, President of Bangladesh Free Trade Union Congress AR Chowdhury Ripon, President of Sammilit Garments Sramik Federation Nazma Akhter, Acting Member Secretary of Sramik Sukkur Forum Sekender Ali Mina, Member of Nari Paksha Rawshan Ara and others spoke at the press conference. Leaders of trade unions and civil society of the Alliance were present.
