Students from seven colleges blocked Science Lab intersection in the capital on Wednesday demanding ordinance for the proposed Dhaka Central University.

The students brought out a procession around 12:45PM  from Dhaka College to the Science Lab area, halting  traffic in that area.

They said that the updated draft of the Dhaka Central University Act–2025 must be approved at the advisory council meeting scheduled for Thursday (January 15).

The protesting students also demanded that the final ordinance be issued by the President.

In a press release on Tuesday, the students said that the draft Dhaka Central University Act–2025, formulated to establish Dhaka Central University by integrating the seven colleges, was published on the Ministry of Education’s website on September 24, 2025. They added that the draft was later updated through several consultation meetings with stakeholders.
